BEACHES: Bridging Each Applicants Chances for Higher Education Success​

Who?

Our workshop targets students who identify with groups underrepresented in STEM fields, first generation college students, and students who do not have ready access to the graduate school pipeline.

What?

Join us for a three day workshop aimed to demystify the process of applying to graduate schools in the fields of Marine Science, Environmental Science, Geoscience, Ecology and Evolution.

Attend workshops on:

  • Deciding on possible graduate programs

  • Finding and contacting mentors

  • Telling your story: CV and personal statement

  • How to navigate graduate school interview

  • The nuts and bolts of the application process

Enjoy Panel Discussions on:

  • What are the career paths in this field

  • What I wish I knew as an undergraduate

  • Introduction to Northeastern graduate programs

This workshop is funded by a grant from Northeastern University's Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, the Department of Marine and Environmental Science, and the Marine Science Center.

Program details:

  • Application process:  Applications will begin to be accepted on March 1st, 2022 and requires unofficial transcripts, resume, and contact information for people who will write letters on your behalf.

  • Application deadline:  April 15, 2022

  • Award notice: May 1, 2022

  • Travel and Lodging: Students will be housed at Northeastern University, and  all meals, lodging and travel are free for participants.
